Spirit Led Life

Home > Pastor's Blog > Spirit Led Life

As a Christian, we are called by God to embrace a life that reflects the very best about Jesus Christ.  From the challenge uttered by Jesus throughout the Sermon on the Mount  (Matthew 5-7) to the teaching of notables in the New Testament like Paul and Peter, the focus is on reproducing the example of Jesus in our daily life.   In Romans 8,  Paul does a masterful job of outlining for us the specific task for the Believer.   In the course of this single chapter, Paul identifies several aspects of the  “Spirit Led Life” that characterize the life of a follower of Jesus.   For Paul, the idea of being Spirit led means that the Holy Spirit not only dwells within us, but further, He actually changes fundamental aspects of our life.  He enables us to be strong enough to resist the routine influence of sin, to keep a more balanced perspective on the events that touch our life, and to keep in mind that God is constantly working to cause all things to benefit the life of the faithful.

Christianity calls us to live a life different than that of the world.  While the expectations may seem difficult at times, we must always remember that God has given us the means to accomplish this worthy goal.  If we are  “led by the Spirit”, we will not fulfill the self indulged impulses that marked our life in sin.
